Bolton Player of the Month Miyaichi enjoys national team experience

The 19-year-old was awarded the accolade by fans on the day of his expected international debut, but ended up watching Japan's 1-0 loss to Uzbekistan from the bench

Ryo Miyaichi may not have gotten to play in Japan's loss to Uzbekistan on Wednesday, but he can at least find consolation in being named Bolton's Player of the Month for February.

Fans on the club's official Facebook page awarded the honour, giving the starlet over half of the vote in acknowledgement of his first Premier League appearance against Wiigan, first FA Cup goal against Millwall, and first start at Chelsea. But despite earning his first call-up for the Japan national team, Miyaichi watched from the bench as manager Alberto Zacche

"The international atmosphere is great and it's been my dream since I was young to play for the national team," the attacker said after the match. "So I'm happy to come here. But to be honest I wanted to play today. We didn't take a lot of shots, so I think the match was a little disappointing."

Miyaichi praised the level of play in the Premier League, already anticipating his return to England for a crucial fixture this weekend."I enjoy being able to play at a higher level," Japan's most anticipated young player told an unusually large crowd of journalists. "I'm happy to play in the Premier League, plus I'm living alone so I'm really enjoying every day."I'm disappointed [in the result], but on Saturday there's a big match against Manchester City so I'll be able to prepare mentally." - http://www.goal.com/
